After meditating in different traditions for many years, I came across Shinzen’s work about 10 years ago and over the past three years I have taken a deep dive into the Unified Mindfulness framework of theory and practice, recently completing my training as a certified UM trainer/teacher.
Having retired from my academic career teaching EFL in Spain, I am now dedicated to the practice, study and teaching of mindfulness. My hope is that my background in education as well as my academic and professional training in psychology and humanistic psychotherapy can inform and enrich what I share in terms of mindful teaching and coaching.
Based on my own experience over the years, I strongly believe in the value of using practice as a kind of psychospiritual alchemy, that allows us to transform life’s difficulties and challenges into opportunities for greater freedom and happiness. I also believe that the vision, practices and strategies that we share as UM teachers can provide practioners and students with a path towards empowering and liberating transformations, for the benefit of ourselves and, ultimately, of all beings.
