Jill Abilock is a mindfulness meditation teacher based in Charlotte, Vermont. She became a student of Shinzen Young in the mid-1990’s, trained intensively under Shinzen as a meditation facilitator, and, in the early 2000’s, began stepping in to lead Shinzen’s monthly one-day public retreats at Green Mountain Coffee Roasters in Waterbury, Vermont.
Jill is currently undergoing chaplaincy internship at the University of Vermont Medical Center. In addition to being part of a team piloting direct mindfulness meditation support for hospice clients and caregivers at UVM Home Health & Hospice, she facilitates weekly mindfulness meditation classes and sitting groups in local community and wellness centers.
“My inspiration to both practice and teach mindfulness stems from direct experience of the fruits of practice—increased happiness and reduced suffering—in my own life as well as in the lives of those I have been privileged to companion in this journey. I feel profound gratitude to Shinzen, and to UM, for the gift of these practices and for the joy of sharing that gift with others.”
