Assistant Professor of Psychology at Istanbul Şehir University

Elif Çelebi is an Assistant Professor of Psychology at Istanbul Şehir University and psychotherapist at Mona Psikoloji in Istanbul, Turkey. She completed her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology at the University of Missouri-Columbia.

 

She has extensive clinical experience in various settings including private practice, hospitals, university counseling centers, and community mental health centers. She completed her clinical psychology internship at the University of Rochester, Department of Psychiatry with an emphasis on prevention and treatment of mental health problems in urban settings and community based mental health research in health disparities.

Following the internship, she held a one-year clinical psychology postdoctoral fellowship, specializing in family therapy in primary care settings. During this fellowship, she provided psychotherapy to children and families as part of a multidisciplinary team of pediatricians and nurses at an urban hospital. She has training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness based interventions (MBSR teacher training, Unified mindfulness), EMDR, family therapy, and other Cognitive Behavioral therapies.
