San Luis Obispo, CA
Unified Mindfulness Coach
Certified Facilitator of The Work of Byron Katie

As a mindfulness coach I aim to teach mindfulness by virtue of the way that I live. I work daily to bring my mindfulness training into all aspects of my life.

I chose Unified Mindfulness as my primary system of practice because of how comprehensive and systematic it is. Since I started training with the Unified Mindfulness community, I find myself practicing far more often than I used to in the past. Once I got the hang of how the system works, I discovered to my amazement that there is profound joy to be had even in the most unusual and trying of situations. There are no words that can express how that has changed my life for the better.

I started practicing meditation in 1988 and began studying Zen in 1995, Theravada in 1999 and Dzogchen in 2005. I have completed numerous five, seven and nine day retreats over the years with teachers such as Kamala Masters, Steve Armstrong, Thich Nhat Hanh, Joan Halifax Roshi, Enkyo O’Hara, Lama Surya Das, Lama John Makranksy, Lama Palmo, Shaila Catherine, Adyashanti and Tsoknyi Rinpoche. My primary teachers are: Byron Katie (since 2004) and Shinzen Young (since 2017).

My main goal as a mindfulness trainer and coach is to help you identify with precision what your mindfulness goals are and provide you with the specific tools you will need so that you can work towards meeting those goals efficiently, effortlessly, and with joy. To this effect, I offer daylong, weekend and weeklong workshops and meditation retreats; and one-on-one mindfulness coaching in person, on the phone, and online.

I am also an Economics Professor at Cal Poly, in beautiful San Luis Obispo, California. I teach and do research on Decision Analysis and the Economics of Human Well-Being. I have one daughter and one son. In my free time I love to go rock climbing and partner dancing. I bring my mindfulness practice to all those relationships and activities and, as a result, I am able to enjoy them more fully, and to be of service. This is the greatest happiness.
