Having taught literature, communication studies, and women’s studies at UCLA for decades, I am now teaching mindful awareness to undergraduates. My goal is to explore how to integrate mindfulness into Higher Education. I am using mindfulness as a tool to help students write and learn more creatively. How to build mindfulness into the learning process, regardless of the subject matter? How to cultivate equanimity with not-knowing? How to build attentional skills with an emphasis on learning how to learn?
Learning is fascinating to me also as a learner, not just as a teacher. I have been learning the Argentine tango for the past 7 years, and am currently learning photography. I am writing books about the learning process through a mindful tango and also mindful photography.
