Deborah Salazar Shapiro is a psychotherapist, accredited mindfulness meditation and compassion teacher, Forest Therapy® guide, author, and parent of two who has been working with children and families for more than 15 years.

 

In addition of being a Unified Mindfulness L2 Coach, Deborah is an instructor of the world-renowned Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) course, a Compassion Cultivation Training© certified teacher; she also completed training as a Mindfulness Facilitator at the University of California, Los Angeles.

 

Deborah also draws on her knowledge gained from trainings and certifications in the following: Mindful Awareness Practices (MAPs I), the signature evidence-based educational program of UCLA Mindful Awareness Research Center; Mindful Self-Compassion; Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction for Teens (MBSR-T); and Mindful Schools Educator Essentials.

 

A meditation practitioner for over a decade, she has studied with various Buddhist teachers in the U.S., Burma, and India. Deborah earned a master’s degree in social work from the University of Southern California and a master’s-level degree in psychology from the University Dr. José Matías Delgado in her native San Salvador, in El Salvador. Her passion for teaching mindfulness, and guiding others to cultivate compassion and generate a kind heart, gives her deep purpose and brings her great joy.
