Unified Mindfulness L2 Coach
Certified Addictions Registered Nurse
Annette supports people recovering from compulsive overeating to develop mindfulness practices that can lead to greater enjoyment of life, better coping with difficult emotions and craving states, shifting away from a “diet mentality”, and improved concentration. She brings her warm, open personality to her online group coaching sessions, creating an environment that is welcoming, supportive, and even fun.
The name of her coaching program, “Tame Eating”, refers to a calm approach to food – one that allows for true enjoyment and appreciation of food rather than using it as a tool for numbing challenging emotions or responding to stress.
Her passion for bringing mindfulness into others’ lives is inspired by her experience achieving sustained behavior change after many years of struggling with addictive behaviors around food. Her mindfulness meditation practices encouraged her to develop a holistic approach to eating, which has resulted in maintaining a weight loss of over 50 pounds while enhancing her appreciation for food and for the small moments in life. If she were to identify a subspecialty to her coaching, it would be finding joy in the mundane moments of life.
In addition to her training within the Unified Mindfulness framework, she draws from professional experience leading an inpatient addiction rehabilitation program, certification in addictions nursing, and practice within a Zen community. She lives in Portland, OR with her husband and dog.
